Maintaining something of a tradition for first excursion of the year, our local BirdLife group (8 participants) today visited Geham National Park.
Once again we finished the year with a great weekend in the Bunya Mountains completing surveys for the Key Biodiversity Area programme.
Our fourth joint activity in 2023 with Toowoomba Bird Observers club, for the bird survey of private properties of members of Lockyer Uplands Catchments Inc., was planned for an early start in case of hot weather. As it turned out, we had overcast conditions all day with low cloud, mist and periods of light rain!
Our team of four observers enjoyed a relaxing time observing the birds of the Jondaryan area on a mild to warm, windy morning.
Having spent a lot of time in Redwood Park in 2020 and early 2021 to do our study of the birdlife of the park, it was fun to revisit some of those sites.
Highfields Falls is definitely one of the best birding spots in the Toowoomba region.
The on-site briefing for our joint BirdLife-TBO contribution to the LUCI bird survey project was interrupted when a passing vehicle flushed two or three Glossy Black-Cockatoos.
This outing was the second in 2023 combining the members of BirdLife and of Toowoomba Bird Observers, to survey birds on private properties in the Lockyer Uplands.
